Team Sweater Vest

For those of you who follow social experiments and also short-lived fads… there is one of both (at the same time) going on…It’s called the Color Wars 2008 (brainchild of one of my favourite online folks to watch - Ze Frank) and basically people just declare their team and… well.. we aren’t sure what happens after that.  For me, I have created my own team and if you want to join http://www.twitter.com/teamsweatervest

Some small details can be aquired at http://www.colorwars2008.com

a whole pile of gobbily goo

March 8, 2008 - 2 Responses

Well… I done did it to myself this time.   Couple nights ago, and confirmed by yesterday’s MRI exam, I put a grade 2 tear on my MCL on the inside of my knee.  Apparantly tears come in three versions…. 1,2,3 and mine is the middle one which means it isn’t that bad but it does require some recovery time and physical therapy that will cause me to MISS ASPEN TRIP!!! arrr  grrrrrrr

Not happy about that.  But I will be sitting at the bottom of the hill eating chicken tortilla soup.

The end of the 4th week of recovery time is precisely the day of the Highlands closing party (see video below) so I am going to take my board up there and hopefully get one run in if the knee is feeling ok.  The duck, just may still fly.

Some good news…the finger is looking pretty good for those that knew about my surgery.  Looks much more like a normal finger!!

New goal:  stay out of doctor’s office.

If you like hockey

Comments not really necessary, you just gotta see this.

40 inches of snow.

January 7, 2008 - No Responses

According to one of my favourite websites, www.aspensnowmass.com, the snowfall for the last 7 days in Aspen has been 40 inches!

I wish I could push the trip up until tomorrow…but for you regulars, this giant winter storm probably means that we will at least get to ski down to the bottom of Two Creeks when the time comes.  :)

Aspen 2008

January 2, 2008 - 13 Responses

The time has come for all skiers and snowboarders to report to Aspen for the seventh edition of the annual tradition.

We put together a little recruitment video this year to inspire you to have more fun the in the snow and sun.

We arrive on March 27th, and leave April 7th…. come whenever you want and for as long as you want.   Bring anyone you want just let me know who you are bringing so that I can have enough stuff ready.    Lodging is free if you bring one bottle of alcohol or fun-equivalent beverage - so you have no excuse.   A free place to stay, 300 days a year of sun (not all while we are there), snow snow snow, fun people, and a hot-tub with a view.

The traditional costume party closing day is April 6th this year at Highlands, FYI…..

Turn up the sound, and watch the video…. you can hardly wait!! :)   RSVP and get those flights to ASE before they fill up!   To RSVP, just comment on this blog… it is that easy.

I recommend downloading the video before watching it.  Right click on that URL below the video and choose “Save As…”, then save the file to your desktop or something, and double click to open it when done…. It will look better in a bigger file thing and sound better too…. WordPress kinda squished it down when I uploaded.  Or, just watch it here….your choice.  :)

And turn the sound up!

If the video isn’t working for you or you want to download it just go here or use this URL:  http://brianlittleton.files.wordpress.com/2008/01/aspen2.wmv

Happy New Year everyone…. may it be foxxy.

My new years resolutions…. (help me keep track if you see me, k?)

1.  Pay attention to the little things.   I do much better with huge giant projects and such…but often forget to do little things that make differences.

2.  Figure out how to cook me some more yummy meals.

3.  Finally figure out that 360 ariel maneuver in Aspen, CO.

4.  Drink less frappuccinos.  (might be delayed)

5.  Get back to London… that was fun!

6.  Take more pictures with my own damn camera.

Thank you Lloyd.

My own personal thank you note to Lloyd Carr.

I grew up attending Michigan football games from around 1980 or so, from what I remember.  For quite a few years there I went to every home game - and loved every minute of it.   Everywhere across this country there is a story like mine, with different teams of course, which is the true beauty of college sports.  You get to grow up with a team, learn the fight songs, traditions, players, coaches… and that loyalty stays with you forever.  Well, I haven’t been to forever, but you get the point.

In the last few years I have been so dissapointed in the whole process of NCAA football as teams, universities, and especially fans have seemingly left behind what I always felt was the backbone of the sport.   Teams, loyalty, bonding, sportsmanship, pride, and humility.

Coaches jumping for contracts, fans arguing for playoffs, players acting out, coaches lobbying voters, etc… etc… it all didn’t fit in with what I wanted from my team.

When I see a player go over the line, I want to see a coach step in and bench him.  I want to see teams gracious in victory and defeat.  I want to see college athletes being taught how to win the right way.    I want to see conference rivals go all out to beat each other in the one game every year that matters most… and to represent their conference with everything they have in the biggest bowl game of the year.   I want teams to be more than just content to have a successfull conference season, but to make it their highest goal.    That’s what college football was to me - and it was that way for me with Michigan football during even the last few years when things have gotten out of control.

Last year,  our undefeated Wolverines were beaten by a very good Ohio State team that went on to play Florida in the national championship game…  I was nervous and worried - that Michigan would fall into the trap of national attention and start lobbying for something that shouldn’t matter near as much as seemingly the entire world thinks it should.  Watch every player in a bowl game when they win it … then tell me that there is only one champion every year.

Lloyd, you led Michigan through that difficult loss - and showed the college football world that the word “class” doesn’t just define the year that you graduate.

I was proud to be a Michigan fan while you were at the helm.  Thank you.

Go Blue.

Sorry guys, but we aren’t on your side this time.

So…. the Mitchell Report came out today.   To Jack’s complete lack of suprise, there were a bunch of all-stars on there.

Well, I’m here as one guy expressing his opinion…. I am hearing a lot of folks on the “player” side say things like “libel”, “erroneous”, etc… and I am sure that the Players Union conference coming up will say a lot of the same things.

Problem for me is… I no longer believe you.   And I’m willing to bet I’m not alone.

The report, for example, with the cashed checks - and the player’s names, etc…  The evidence is out there.   It is real, and for me… it is convincing.

This isn’t “baseball out to get you”, or anything along those lines.   Y’all gambled with your professional reputations, and many of you lost.  For the fans, it is so dissapointing that you continue to think that we are so naive as to believe your stories any more.

Be an adult, fess up to your mistakes, and lets move on and play ball.

launched.

what shall this first post be about?  well there are lots of things in life that interest me, but lets just pretend i am a boring plank tonight because i spent the last couple of hours with hosting issues and don’t have the heart for posting right now.
